EvonyOnline 1st thoughts.

Evony Online 1st thoughts.

So I have been keeping an eye on EvonyOnline for some time. I did not give it ago in the past, because it would not load at work. I like to play flash based games at work.
Then 2 weeks ago my brother tells me he plays, this was enough for me. I had him send me registration link quick smart. After going through the quick sign up process picking a name for myself and my city I was greeted with my empty base to start my empire.
I would say the game is a 50-50 mix between MMORPGE and RTS. It is clear that the developers are getting allot off inspiration from tittles like the “Age of Empire Franchise” & “Warcraft” franchise, both World of Warcraft and their RTS games. Not that these franchise are bad source for inspiration.
If this is your first time hearing about Evony, here is a quick rundown. The game is based online and uses Adobe Flash Player. Basically the game play follows that of an “old school” stats based RTS, in the most traditional sense. Think building & upgrading. Researching tech trees and mining for resources. The difference being that this game is played online on large online servers with 100’s and 100’s of other players in real time. The battle rages on 24/7 7 days a week regardless of whether you are logged in or not. This is all I will I touch on as far as game play goes. I will be doing a more in-depth post on this, later in the month.
The first thing I notice once joining is the game is how community focused the game is. As soon as I joined and meet the conditions my brother had me join his alliance (Clan). I would say the building/role playing aspect of the game is the base and the community aspect is the heart of the game. It is this aspect that will have you checking your account whenever you can get your hands on a PC. This is not to say the roll playing and strategy aliments are not there, because they are if you are willing to invest the time to learn them. If you do I think you will be happy with their old school approach to the RTS genera.
Ok guys that is it for today I will make another post on the mechanics of the game real soon. If you have not had time to check out evony yet I recommend that you find some.

The Way I Play!!!

Hi today I will like to share my current set up and my plans for the future. When I originally started to build my rig, I wanted it to be Media centre pc that could also play games. After a year with my current setup I now know this was the wrong road to follow. Over time I will be looking at building a dedicated Media Centre PC and Gamer as having the current rig running constantly is creating too much heat and killing my power bill. For pics please visit http://www.thewayiplay.com/mainforum/index.php?topic=1209.0Here is my current rig:
Computer:
O/S: Windows Vista
CASE: Cooler Master RC-690
MB: ASUS P5K/EPU
CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4 GHz
GPU: ASUS 8800GT
RAM: 4GB DDR2
TVCARD: leadtek DVR3200h
DRIVE: LG Blue Ray/HDDVD Super Combo
HDD: Western Digital 500GB
COOLING: 7 Cooler Master Case fans, Stock CPU fan
Monitor:
LG 47 Inch Full HD LCD
Audio:
Receiver: Sony 5.1 800w Home Theatre System
Head Phones: Logitech G35
Controls:
Microsoft Wireless Keyboard + Mouse
Logitech G9x Gaming Mouse
Logitech G25 Racing wheel & Pedals
Logitech Xbox360 Harmony Remote
Media Centre Extender:
Microsoft Xbox360

In the near future I will be upgrading GPU to an Nvidia based DX11 card. Upgrading to a 3 monitor setup and improve my cooling with a Cooler Master V8 CPU cooler. One day when I have the room I would also like to get a Frex motion cockpit. Any way guy that my rig, please feel free to let me know what you thing or recommend future upgrades. P.s Head over to http://www.thewayiplay.com/ to check out other setups or share yours.

Batman: Alkam Asylum

The Dark Night, The Caped Crusader or plain old Batman. It is a safe call to say Batman is one the most recognizable comic book characters created. Most people will have a good memory of Batman in one form or another. You might have gotton your Batman fix through the original comics. You might have watched animated series after school. or you might have watched any of the blockbuster movies in the franchise.

One would think a game based on a franchise with such history would automatically be a success, but time after time this recipe has failed. Many comic and movie tie in games have failed to live up to the high stands of the title in question. Transformers and Spider Man I’m looking at you.So after downloading and installing my copy of Batman: Alkam Asylum I tried to clear all my bad memories and start afresh with high hopes.

After a quick Story introduction I Learn that the Joker has handed himself in to batman who is quickly escorted to Alkam Asylum Island, Where he escapes and takes over the Asylum with the help of some buddy’s. You play Batman trying gain control of the Asylum this is as far as I will go with the plot not wanting to spoil it too much.

I have been playing the PC version on 47” Full HD LCD TV and let me tell you this is one sexy game. The asylum is amazing really capturing the feel of a Batman moving or comic. From the dark rooms with long hallways and high ceilings, paper and filing cabinets spread all over and high ledges and gargoyles for batman to swing and hide in. On the flip side to the dark settings you will finds yourself in beautiful well lit gardens full of colour, as well as wide open spaces between the asylum buildings lit only by the moon or in dripping wet underground caves & suers. Really I can’t stress how much the settings make the game and just how important they are to the game play. You will constantly be looking for some where to hide or a high vantage point to swoop down from. I promise once you have finished the story you will be going back just to explore.
The settings make you believe you are batman but it is the story and the voice acting that will have you sitting down for hours on end.

They have strayed away from retelling the most recent movies, given then self the freedom to tell their own epic story. Fans will be excited to learn that the game's main characters are voiced by actors from the DC animated universe, namely Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Arleen Sorkin reprise their roles as Batman, the Joker, and Harley Quinn, respectively. The voice acting of the Joker and Harley Quinn and the rest if the character is very creepy at times and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, second to this the lip syncing is the best I have seen in game.

A Batman game would not be so without all the gadgets and I am please to say the game play is heavily centered on this and it works really well. You will find self constantly using your grappling hock to get up high, so you can swoop down from the dark or swing from ledge to ledge. There are 2 combat systems to master in game, hand to hand combat and predator mode. Combat is base around mouse clicks that at 1st seam simple and under whelming, Build combos by using right clicks to attack and left clicks to counter. But after a few fights you learn that there is much more skill and depth, gained through unlocks to your suit, equipment gadget and special movies. To unlock these upgraded you will need to perform big combos that will accumulate XP that will then be used to buy upgrade’s. Predator mode is the 2nd combat system which is based on stealth. When in predator mode batman views in x-ray vision reveling where his pray (attackers) are hiding, from here you are able to pick enemies off one by one. You can do this by doing silent take downs, swooping in from the shadows or using gadgets such at the batmerang or grappling hook. I really feel like the game me the freedom to be Batman.

For me the besting thing about the game play is the amount of freedom in game. There are all ways a few ways to get around a few ways to take out enemies. The story and game is set out, but it never fells like this when playing. As well as this there are always new things to find new things to discover weaver it be charter profiles, riddles from the Riddle or new hiding placing the list is endless.

There is only really two let downs for me in the game. This come in the form of boss fights. They are very repetitive and ever to easy or too hard, and not had allot of thought. The one exception to this is the Scarecrow in counters which I’ll let you discover. The 2nd being the i did not get the chance to drive the batmobile:(

That it’s for me now Thanks for reading my thoughts and I’d like to hear what you think of the game.
Disclaimer: I have paid for this game with my own money; have made this post for my own enjoyment.

Just Picked CODMW2 & Logitech G9X Laser Mice

This game is big. I went with the PC copy and CD 1 of 2 has been installing for about 10 minutes with 10 minutes to go. I would imagine the Xbox and PS3 version will have very long load times, is any one able to confirm this?

Played single player for an hour or so and the stages are well thought out if not a little bit over the top. It is very rear that i finish single payer games. COD MW1 being an exception and I think after my 1st hour MW2 that i will be playing through to the end.

Now the reason I have been so excited about this game is online play, and it has not let me down so far. The matchmaking system is working much better than most Xbox 360 games I have played in the past. However i am still find that game lobby's are closing and lag when the host leave the game. Hopefully some one will hack the game so we can play dedicated servers.

As for the game play it is very intense and a big step forward from the 1st game. teams and weapons seam to be more balanced than in the 1st game, even kill streak bonus such as chopper are more balanced.

So far i am liking the game graphics are killa and my new mouse and G35 are giving me a slight advantage.

If you are not sure if you are gong to buy the game i would recommend it, however i am a long term fan of the COD series and my opinion might be slightly bias.
